About Open Cell Foam Insulation

The open-cell spray foam insulation used by A-1 Advanced, is a 0.5lb. low density polyurethane foam insulation.  Open cell insulation foam can be installed in residential and commercial structures, providing a superior thermal and air barrier.

How We Use the Product

Open cell foam delivers exceptional R-value per inch and virtually eliminates the air infiltration into and out of the structure.  Most energy costs occur from the interior air leaking out of the structure and exterior air leaking in. Insulation foam is spray applied onto the substrate as a liquid, it then reacts and expands to create foam.  During the reaction and expansion process the foam fills the air gaps that traditional insulation products cannot. This creates a thermal envelope and air barrier around the structure being insulated. Open cell foam insulation is used in new construction, remodels and upgrades.  It is commonly applied in:

  • Interior walls
  • Exterior walls
  • Vented attics
  • Unvented attics
  • Ceilings
  • Between floors
  • Under floors

Benefits of Open Cell Foam Insulation

When open cell foam insulation is properly installed, it will quickly expand into any air infiltration areas, such as, penetrations, cracks, crevices and gaps. Open cell will conform to irregular curves, spaces and surfaces; providing a superior thermal barrier around the entire structure. As the foam controls air infiltration, you will experience a consistent comfort in your building- no more hot and cold zones. Less air infiltration means that pollutants, dust, allergens, etc. will not be able to enter the structure.  Once installed, the foam will not sag or settle over the lifetime of the building. Also, the foam will not support the growth of mold or mildew. Finally, you will enjoy the noise reduction qualities of open cell foam.
